This is my first blog. I describe my first moonvid with Sharpcap, Pipp, Autostakkert + Registax

I want to try to report the things that I am busy with doeing and things I have achieved.

So since yesterday I added a new thing to my astro hobby. The moon was very bright, so no good for a lot of astrophotothings. And my camera lenses are too small I think for moon shooting (max 250 mm). And I was impressed by a presentation on shooting the moon I saw recently, with use of Pipp, Autostakkert and Registax.

So I grabbed the old supercheap Cresta 60-600 mm kids telescope that my daugter never used, and put it on my photo tripod. See what I get.

I pointed the Cresta to the moon with 25mm Plossl and saw nice craters. With 3x Barlow that came with this set, even rather large ones.

I had lying around a cheap Svbony SV305 planetary cam. Meant for using with autoguiding maybe in future, and see what comes up.

Then I plugged the SV305 in and connected with my laptop and

started Sharpcap. After a lot of mistakes I managed to get a liveview of the moon, great excitement when the moon filled the screen. Be it so large only half of moon was in visible field. So thats what I proceeded with.

But the image was rapidly drifting away, so I put it on my trackuing mount, a Skywatcher AZ-GTi. And put it in follow the moon mode. Now the image was kept in not moving. I tried to find the most sharp view with the terrible adjustment knobs. The image was wobbly but with sharper moments in between. I learned from the presentation that I had to make a AVI movie first, with Sharpcap, so I did manage after many mistakes. Meanwhile reading some youtube instructions, I followed the on of Mr. Brendenowits.

So after the AVI was ready I put it in Pipp, resulting in 24Gb file with 12800 pictures.

That one I put in Autostakkert, following Brendenowits instructions, see picture.

Only this took 2.5 hours to end. Do not know why.

Next step was Registax, but then it collapsed because of disk full. So time to do some disk reorganising, and using my new Samsung T7 2TB SSD disk.

After processing the image made by Autostakkert through Regstax, I noticed no difference.
